Toyohiko Kagawa
1888 - 1960
Toyohiko Kagawa lived in the slums of Kobe, Japan. He organized unions among shipyard workers, factory workers and farmers. He founded the Anti-war League in Japan, and in 1940 was arrested after publicly apologising for the Japanese invasion of China. In 1941 he visited America in an attempt to avert war between Japan and the US.
